Our Neighborhood

We live in a nice middle class neighborhood. The neighborhood to the south used to be a nice one, but it’s a slum now.

It seems their Home Owners Association fees were exorbitant and it made it harder and harder for the owners to pay their fees AND keep their homes in good repair. Over time, it simply became a slum. Why didn’t they throw out the association and put new more reputable managers in? Why didn’t they throw the bums out, instead of allowing them to rape their earnings, until they were bums themselves? Who knows?

Instead of standing up to the association, they have started simply moving into our neighborhood. They are camping in our yards and our neighborhood park. We called the police to arrest them for trespassing, but were told the government said leave them alone.

We got together with our own home owners association and decided to make our community a gated one to stem the tide. We began construction on it, and the government came and said, you cant build that.

In fact, they said, the people living in your yards need to be brought into your homes. After all, they said, your house is much bigger than just you need. So a family moved into our second floor.

The family upstairs in our home has 4 kids and one on the way. The mother is having complications. The government came to me and said, you have health insurance. The family upstairs doesn’t and the mom needs medical attention for her pregnancy, so you need to let them use your insurance and you need to pay the deductibles.

Their kids go to our schools now, and so our property taxes went up to pay for the influx of kids. Our crime rate has gone up, but the new people say it’s not them. Yes, they were trespassers, but that doesn’t mean they would commit other crimes.

The dad upstairs has agreed to mow the lawn for $10, but it hardly offsets the myriad of extra costs we’ve incurred since they moved in. 

Where does our housing addition go from here? We don’t know, but it doesn’t seem fair….does it? We are told it’s partly our fault that the addition to the south is in the shape it’s in, but isn’t it THEIR fault? Didn’t THEY allow it? Why does our neighborhood have to suffer, because they didn’t make the needed changes in theirs?

Gosh, I hope this doesn’t spread to the whole country. The cost would be unbearable, wouldn’t it?

Playing Politics, Democrat Style

For years now Democrat’s have been playing politics with our security as a nation.

They inflated the Bush Administration’s involvement with Abu Ghraib (which was basically zero) to the extent that some of the Dem’s in Congress tried to suggest that Cheney had ordered this treatment of detainee’s, even when they absolutely knew it was an isolated incident. It didn’t matter that it would inflame middle easterner’s, they played it for the political points.

Time and again the Dem’s tried to subvert our battle effort’s by repeating the war was lost, when Bush wanted to increase troop levels. Demagoguery is a friend of theirs. The troop morale be damned, they had political points to score against a weakened President.

They increasingly harangued against Gitmo and insinuated torture was being carried out there, even when they had visited the place numerous times, and saw the over the top special treatment the detainee’s there receive. Since most American’s don’t get to visit Gitmo, it was easy to keep the lie going for political effect.

Dianne Feinstein (D) California, has been a vocal critic of the war, yet her husbands company made hundreds of millions from the war in government contract’s. John Murtha (D) Pennsylvania, has called our soldiers murderers, while his nephew raked in millions from war contract’s. Yet, if you listened to the media, the only people that made money from the war were Cheney-Bush cronies in Halliburton. In fact, they said it was the only reason we were in the war!

To date, the Dem’s have succeeded in destroying the Republican Party through their attacks on the Bush Administration, which continue even today.

Their strategy is to move the ball away from thing’s going wrong in the Obama Administration. Stay focused on Bush and his perceived misdeeds and use a willing press to help keep Obama and the Dem’s afloat.

It’s worked quite successfully, as Obama is socializing our country into oblivion, and no one is saying a word. People think, at least he’s better than Bush.

Problem number one has appeared when they got greedy and wanted to prosecute Bush people. This wouldn’t be a problem, except it exposes them to hypocrisy, because shock of shocks, the Dem’s knew about our interrogation techniques all along!

Back when public sentiment was for prosecuting war against those that hurt us, the Dem’s were quite fine with using “whatever you have to” to glean information from the bad guys. That’s what Chuck Schumer (D) of New York said when told about the various interrogation techniques.

He later went on to be one of the most vocal Bush critic’s screaming at the top of his hypocritical lungs that we should close Gitmo, and not be water boarding anyone.

Now Nancy Pelosi (D), Speaker of the House, who was all for prosecuting Bush people, has been discovered to have known about the technique herself as far back as 2002. I’m shocked, I tell you.

Today, the Obama Administration denied Cheney’s request to release the minutes from ALL of the meeting’s they had with congressional member’s and staff. I wonder why? Politics, maybe? Maybe we might find out just who is telling the truth and who is not?

If it stays a war of words, a he said/she said/they said thing, the Dem’s will win because they have a willing media on their side. They know this, so don’t expect to see those minutes any time soon. It will only be if they are forced to by FOIA request’s. It will not be because they want the truth out there for the nation to see.

The last thing a Democrat wants is the truth. Lies, innuendo, demagoguery, and obfuscation works much much better when playing politics, Democrat style.

Why Do Liberal’s Think the Constitution is a Living Document?

It’s been said the Constitution is a living breathing document that is open to different interpretation’s by different generation’s as the time’s change in America.

Therefore, you can find a “right to privacy” in the 1970’s, when there wasn’t that right before then. You can find that the “right to gay marriage” exists now, where before it would have been unheard of to even suggest it.

Why have amendments at all, if you can just change it as you go along, without any voting by anyone? Clearly, the reason for amendments and for them being very hard to ratify is because our founders wanted it to be very hard to add or subtract from that document.

They expected it to be a bedrock of our nation, not a sea of ever changing quicksand. They wanted it to be the same 200 years from it’s inception as it was the day they all ratified it. I truly believe our founders would be mortified at the way liberal judges make policy out of whole cloth and ignore the Constitution altogether.

How have the American people not risen in revolt to the usurpation of the Constitution? Well, it lies in the insidious nature of the left’s ability to indoctrinate. It starts in the schools. Communist and leftist leaders have long known the way to win people over is to get to them when they are young.

Stalin said, “Education is a weapon whose effects depend on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.” He knew that the bedrock of his communist country was being built in the school houses of the USSR.

The left here knew this too. The left began by winning school board elections, and thereby setting the school districts agendas. Republicans used to win the big election, the presidency, but wasn’t as involved in small elections, but I submit those elections are every bit as critical to why we are the nation we are now, as the presidency.

The left meanwhile, has implemented curriculum that has less and less to do with our founders and more and more to do with “diversity”. Meaning, they don’t want to teach our kids about the dead white guys any longer, they want to teach them about the contributions of blacks, Indians, Orientals, etc. to the nation.

That’s all fine, but if we don’t talk about those dead white guys, then we don’t talk about the thing’s those dead white guys did, like writing the Constitution. So kids don’t know our founding documents, or why the founders had certain ideas about freedom, and independence.

If we don’t know why the founders held hard to certain truths as they saw them, then it’s no big deal to change those truths over time. No one even knows they’ve been changed!

So what to do? Well, I would say, get involved in your school board elections. Start at the grassiest of the grass roots. It all starts there. Sarah Palin started there, and she’s done alright. If we can start taking back our school boards, we can start working toward rectifying the damage that has been done to our Republic.

If we sit back and do nothing, and expect things to change, we are fools. As a nation, every day we move to the left. It is up to us, to actually DO something to stem that tide, and get things moving back to the right.

Playing With Numbers, Are People This Stupid?

So it seems Obama is increasing the deficit by 300%, but his people are out shouting how they are going to cut the deficit by 50% by the end of his administration.

Are people not smart enough to understand that means a net increase of 150%, even if they actually did cut it by 50%, which they won’t come close to? Are people stupid enough to accept this rationale?

Probably, at least for now. The guy makes gaffe after gaffe, mistake after mistake, insult after insult, yet American’s as a whole still like him. I can honestly say, I have no idea why. I don’t get it. I haven’t sipped the kool-aid. I do now know that the Anti-Christ could come and no one will care, if he smiles nice and “loves” the world.

He is in the process of a complete government takeover of just about every aspect of our lives, and no one seems to mind. He drops thousands of private sector defense jobs because of his defense spending cuts (the one place a Democrat actually loves to save money), but then announces 20,000 new pentagon jobs. So he replaces private sector jobs with government bureaucrat jobs, brilliant. It makes 20,000 more people beholden to his administration.

Obama is like the leader of the Morlocks fattening up his Eloi meal tickets. Instead of actually eating us, he is just going to consume everything we own and have worked for all of our lives.

He has put a debt of over $11,000 per person in the United States on each one of us, that’s every man, woman, and child everywhere in the United States. How many of those inner city welfare folks are going to pay their share of that? Uh, huh. How many illegal immigrants are going to come forth and say, here’s my $11,000, please take it for the common good? How many children have that much cash laying about?

Well, for everyone of those that doesn’t pay their $11,000, you and I get to pay it for them. Isn’t this fun?

Since most of the ones that can actually afford to pay their share, are outnumbered (and by a big margin) by those that will never pay a dime in their lives, guess how much you will actually pay?  Approximately 10 times the $11,000. Nice.

And while you and I pay that, Obama gets the votes of those that will never pay a dime. They think he is pretty neat for giving them so much stuff. They hate you rich people that actually are the ones paying, but they love their boy Obama.

Think he’s done soaking you yet? Nah, environmental concerns are a big special interest of his. They want money too. Here comes cap and trade taxes, clean fuel taxes, taxes on bigger automobiles, and on and on.

If the Republican’s don’t find some really good candidates for the mid-terms to get back some ability to oppose this lunatic, we may end as the nation our founders actually envisioned, not that that would matter to Obama’s ilk. They despise this country anyway.

It’s a shame that we who love it, are going to pay for it’s ruination isn’t it? Keep up the fight. I know this sounds gloomy, and it is frankly, but we can still stem the tide. It’s not too late…yet.

It’s Easy To Love the Child

My mom once told me, “Happy Birthday Son, you’re 15 going on 55. Lighten up.” I’ve always been a stick in the mud, tight a**, mature for my age, and many other nice and not so nice descriptive’s. I’ve always been a conservative.

One of my best friends was just the opposite. He never wanted to grow up. He was the perennial college student, frat rat, life of the party. For illustrative purposes, he would be the liberal, if not for the fact that his dad is a staunch conservative and raised him correctly, so I believe he actually is conservative. Still, it’s easy to love the child.

Now I have my childish ways. I have a temper, I love to play computer games, and I’m not the most responsible with money (that might be an understatement). I know liberals that are intelligent and fairly mature in their own lives, but for some reason, are children when it comes to politics.

Now that I’ve set my ground rules, here’s my question. Why is America and the world moving ever leftward? Where are the grownups to stop the madness we are heading toward?

The answer lies in the maturity level of the populous as a whole. We are growing ever younger in our attitudes, and it keeps people in the liberal mold much longer than it used to.

18 year olds today still want to be led by the hand and spoon fed. 18 year olds from my generation were more childish than 18 year olds from my dad’s generation, and so on.

Remember in the sixties, the hippies said “never trust anyone over 30 years old”? Well, those guys are in their 60’s now, but a lot of them still try and act like they are 21. Dennis Miller, the comedian, was a typical Hollywood liberal good time Charlie, until 9/11 happened. Dennis, unlike most liberals, grew up that day.

He realized the hideous fallacies of the “cant we all just get along” crowd. He realized some people are going to hate you no matter what, and you had better take care of them, before they take care of you. He realized peace and safety for America actually is bought and paid for by a strong Defense.

True to their childish form, his old Hollywood friends disowned him as they found out he had gone over to the dark side. Hollywood loves a good party, and Dennis went and grew up and became a fuddy duddy that no one wants around any longer.

While Reagan was immensely popular, he achieved that popularity from being a parental figure that people trusted to steer us back from the Carter years. People saw what childishness got us as a country, and wanted an adult to right the ship.

Still, Reagan was not looked upon as being cool or hip, he was a statesman. Bush, Sr. and GW Bush were also considered stodgy, wearing their suits in the Oval Office and such, while Clinton and now Obama were the cool hipsters. Clinton was a frat boy run amok, wearing shorts in the Oval Office. Obama speaks in hip slang, and shoots hoops.

I know a lot of that comes from the Mainstream media that WANT those type of images projected, but it’s still true that the liberal presidents are going to be considered cooler, because they, in fact, are more immature, and remember, it’s easy to love the child.

Liberals are for abortion. Abortion is an immature conclusion to a bad decision or circumstance.

Liberals are anti-military. They want the world to just love one another. Again, an immature response to an unrealistic childish world view. If we are nice to them, they will be nice to us.

It doesn’t work in the real world. Other countries respect you, because you are strong and rich and powerful. They want your money, and they don’t want you invading them, so they are nice. Saddam Hussein didn’t respect the military force of Kuwait, so he simply took it over. Hitler wasn’t afraid of France or Poland, so he invaded them.

Liberals want the government to care for everyone from cradle to grave. We are the richest nation in the world, and yet we have hungry children without health insurance. How can that be? We must give everyone everything. Equality means equal outcome. Simply childish.

America is founded on equal opportunity not equal outcome. A poor person in America can become rich if they work hard. That can’t happen in very many places in the world, but it can happen here. As government grows to encompass all things for all people, it stifles the freedom and creativity needed for individuals to be successful.

It’s easy to love the child. It’s hard to be the adult and say, no. This is bad for everybody, it’s snake oil that sounds good, but it’s not. There are no free lunches. If the government provides a service to people, someone else has to pay for it. If enough of those someone else’s pay too much, they save money in other ways, like cutting employees, spending less on other things, etc.

The mature response is let American’s be as free as possible to make money. If they make money they create more jobs that allow more people to make more money.

The government has never made anyone rich, except themselves. Private citizens are who make other people rich. If we are prosperous as a nation, the poor will get better care through more job opportunities and if needed, charities.

The key to success for everyone is the creation of as many private sector jobs as possible. If unemployment is at 1%, then we can deal with why that 1% can’t get work and what to do with them. As government stifles the private sector through more and more spending, jobs go away, unemployment goes up, and more people become reliant on government.

So why is the world moving left when common sense says it should be moving right? Well, no one likes the adult, the parent. Everyone loves the child.

Kids don’t like to be told to clean their room, take out the trash, etc. Liberals don’t like to be told don’t kill your baby, get a job, etc. Kid’s would prefer another kid be in charge, so they can have fun. Liberal’s love liberals in charge, because it’s a free for all no responsibilities fun-fest, paid for by the adults.

It’s hard to be the adult. It’s hard and getting harder to be a conservative, but the world needs us, whether it knows it right now or not.

Here’s hoping they realize it, and grow up real soon. Now take out the trash!

I will be excerpting it some if you don’t want to read it all, so here we go…

It seems an advertising firm was hired by politicians and environmentalist’s to find how they can sell global warming more effectively to an ever increasingly dubious populous. This firm inadvertently sent their findings out to reporters in an email, and it provides a great illustration of how we are manipulated by politicians and how a NY Times reporter slants bad news for liberals and tries to make lemonade out of the lemons.

 The problem with global warming, some environmentalists believe, is “global warming.”

The term turns people off, fostering images of shaggy-haired liberals…

Well no doubt this image is because that’s basically who is behind the environmental movement in America. So, duh.

Instead of grim warnings about global warming, the firm advises, talk about “our deteriorating atmosphere.”

Yes, our deteriorating atmosphere is much cheerier than global warming.

 Don’t confuse people with cap and trade; use terms like “cap and cash back” or “pollution reduction refund.”

Isn’t cap and cash back much less confusing than cap and trade? Really, what they are trying to imply is that this new huge tax is actually another Obama/Democrat rebate, which is blatantly Orwellian.

Here’s a youtube video of Congressman Dingell of Michigan (D) and Retard Al Gore of Never Never Land (F) discussing the very fact that cap and trade is a tax, a very big tax. Note at around the 1:28 mark Al Gore says he wants both taxes being discussed. What a good little liberal he is, he wants all of our money.

 

 

Now back to the article itself.

I want to note that the reporter didn’t note who the government officials were. One might assume they were not conservative Republican officials, but it’s not mentioned. Keep this in mind for a little further down.

The answer, Mr. Perkowitz said in his presentation at the briefing, is to reframe the issue using different language.

Yes, we must use Orwellian thought control at all possible times.

“Another key finding: remember to speak in TALKING POINTS aspirational language about shared American ideals, like freedom, prosperity, independence and self-sufficiency…

Just wow. There is nothing independent or free about the environmental movement. It wants to subjugate all Americans and indeed the world into it’s totalitarian idealism of what they and only they believe the Earth needs to survive. These talking points are in direct contradiction of what their true aims are. They say free, they mean enslaved. They say independent, they mean enslaved. When they say self-sufficient and prosperous, they mean them, everyone else they mean enslaved.

Opponents of legislation to combat global warming are engaged in a similar effort. Trying to head off a cap-and-trade system, in which government would cap the amount of heat-trapping emissions allowed and let industry trade permits to emit those gases, they are coaching Republicans to refer to any such system as a giant tax that would kill jobs.

Notice the “opponents” of global warming are Republicans. They didn’t name the government officials earlier as Democrats, but the reporter clearly wants you to know that the global warming opponents are Republicans. I wonder why?

Regardless, the reason global warming is losing is because global warming is opinion not fact, despite what Al Gore says. The further we get from the post-Katrina hysteria the more we see we once again over reacted. Swine Flu anyone? We as a nation freak out about once every 5-10 years over something. We think the world is going to end. This isn’t any different.

We shouldn’t litter, because it’s ugly. We shouldn’t waste energy because it’s costly, but beyond that, meh.

Until Al Gore, Leonardo DiCaprio, and all of the other global warming alarmist’s live in a 900 sq. ft. home and ride their bikes everywhere, I won’t take them or their cause seriously, and no amount of Orwellian speak is going to make me change my mind.

Congratulations Katie and Michael

Our daughter Katie was voted to be Student Council President for her High School for next year, her Senior year. It is an advanced Academy and she is currently in the running to be valedictorian also.

Congratulations Katie! We are extremely proud of you and I am sure you will be a much better president for your school, then Obama is for our nation.

Our son Michael was honored with a potentially huge career advancement. I can’t go in to detail on it, but it’s very prestigious and we are very excited and happy for him. Michael is one of the good ones. He will make it no matter what, but this would be a huge plus. Congratulations Michael!
